Project Overview
In 2013, the College seized a transformative opportunity, purchasing a vacant 110,000 square-foot office building at the corner of Seven Mile and Haggerty Roads, right next to its main campus. What once stood as an underutilized space was reimagined as the Jeffress Center, a dynamic hub for higher education and economic development in Western Wayne County.
Opened just one year later, the Jeffress Center, named in honor of College President Conway Jeffress, became a game-changer for students seeking to advance their education.
Through a groundbreaking partnership with Wayne State University and the University of Toledo, the center offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, bringing world-class university education directly into the community.
Beyond expanding academic opportunities, the renovation provided much-needed breathing room for the main campus, allowing for the growth of enrichment programs and academic initiatives. As a result, the College is updating its Master Plan to accommodate its evolving role in shaping the future of education and workforce development in the region. What was once an empty shell is now a thriving educational center, fueling innovation and opportunity for generations to come.
