2021 Brings New Promotions

Oakland Community College Science and Technology Beam Signing
On Friday October 23rd, 2020 the IDS team joined representatives from OCC, the OCC Board of Trustees and Barton Malow in signing a 43 foot long structural beam. The new 85,000 square-foot Science and Technology Building is scheduled to be completed by fall of 2021. To read more about the beam signing click here

Van Buren Public Schools Early Childhood Center Groundbreaking
Members of the IDS team, alongside VBPS Board of Education, Plante Moran, and Granger Construction (with a couple little helpers) wore hard hats, used shovels and of course wore their mask for the Groundbreaking Ceremony on Monday, October 8, 2020. Van Buren Public Schools Early Childhood Center is the first series of the three series bond project passed in 2019 and is scheduled to be completed Fall 2021.

David DiCiuccio Transitions to Principal Engineer
David DiCiuccio transitions from his long-time role as Director of Mechanical Engineering into the position of Principal Engineer. As Principal Engineer, Dave will oversee our technical staff working on complex engineering projects. Dave’s vast experience and superior problem-solving skills will continue to be an asset to our projects and clients.

Schoolcraft College Breaks Ground on St. Joe's Mercy Elite Sports Center
IDS attended the groundbreaking for Schoolcraft College's St. Joe's Mercy Elite Sports Center. The goal of the center is to integrate the College’s professional academic programs with real-world experiences, offering opportunities to provide services for the athletes, including sports medicine and performance nutrition. In addition to the athletics facilities, the Sports Center features classrooms to support the Schoolcraft College Fitness Leadership Program.

Michigan Union Reopening Celebration
IDS attended the University of Michigan’s Michigan Union Reopening Celebration. The transformation and restoration of the Union was completed to better serve the needs of today’s students. The renovation restored many of the historically significant features, including repairs to the State Street entry.

Dick Newlin Retires
Dick Newlin has been a member of the IDS team for 31 years. In his time with the architecture department, Newlin rose to the role of Associate with IDS’s founding in 1999. In his more than three decades of work with IDS, Dick distinguished himself for his work on projects across all markets, but particularly his work within the fields of Higher Education and Healthcare. In retirement, Dick plans to spend his time on his passions, globetrotting and photography.

Michigan Medicine CIT Groundbreaking
IDS attended the Michigan Medicine Clinical Inpatient Tower ground breaking ceremony on Friday, October 25, 2019. University of Michigan, Michigan Medicine and State of Michigan leadership were in attendance to celebrate this cutting edge facility, scheduled to open in mid-2024. The new 12-story hospital will house 264 private rooms capable of converting to intensive care, a state-of-the-art neurological and neurosurgical center, high-level, specialty care services for cardiovascular and thoracic patients, along with advanced imaging.

Eastern Michigan University Student Athlete Performance and Success Center Grand Opening
The IDS team attended the Grand Opening of the EMU SAPSC Tuesday, August 27th. This student athlete facility defines the northern boundary of Rynearson Stadium as the home for Eastern Michigan football and as a space for all student athletes to come train.

Domino's Innovation Garage Grand Opening
IDS attended the Domino's Innovation Garage Grand Opening, Wednesday, August 21. The event included a tour of the building with one of Domino's CEOs and enjoying pizza from the new test kitchen as well as a demonstration of the autonomous vehicles manufactured by Nuro. This new facility is designed to accommodate permanent workspace for an initial 90 research staff and a planned additional growth space for 60 more over a five-year period.

Board of Directors Elects Chuck Lewis President
As Integrated Design Solutions (IDS) celebrates its 20th Anniversary, the Board of Directors has elected Chuck Lewis to serve as the firm’s president. Chuck was one of the first to be offered ownership, as IDS’ leadership began to transition 15 years ago. He has played an integral part in this transition planning and has been mentoring actively since 2003.

Grand Rapids Community College Ford Fieldhouse Dedication
IDS joins GRCC in celebrating the newly renovated Ford Fieldhouse. Located at the intersection of Lyon Street and Bostwick Avenue, the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse was originally constructed in the mid 1970’s and has received a number of minor upgrades over the past 50 years. Through a series of meetings and workshops with building users a number of goals were established for this renovation.

Oakland University held a ribbon cutting for its expansion and renovation of the university’s student union, the Oakland Center.

United Shore Financial Ribbon Cutting
A grand opening for the United Shore Financial's 600,000-square-foot headquarters, which will house more than 2,700 employees, was held Wednesday, September 12. IDS partnered with USF to renovate the old Hewlett Packer Enterprise building and turn it into an amenity-filled environment for its employees.

Ann Green Retires
Celebrating a career in interior design spanning 38 years, Ann spent the last 21 years leading the growth of Integrated Design Solution’s Interiors Department and was named Manager of the Group in 2007. Along with managing the department, Ann was actively engaged with projects in the K 12, College and University and Athletics Markets and spearheaded many of the traditions at IDS that have shaped the work life culture of our firm. An avid traveler and committed grandparent, Ann will join her husband in retirement to allow her time to be fully committed to both of these passions.

Pearson Elementary Dedication
South Lyon Community Schools hosted dedication ceremony for its eighth and newest elementary school, William A. Pearson Elementary. Pearson Elementary School was built with strong support from the community through passage of a bond in spring 2015.

Notre Dame Stadium Rededication
The Fighting Irish played their first game in newly renovated Notre Dame Stadium. Working closely with Notre Dame’s Architectural Department, their Athletic Department and their Football Department, IDS produced a design that keeps their facilities cutting edge with that of other premier football stadiums, while also preserving the character that is uniquely Notre Dame.

OU Oakland Center and Athletics Facility Renovations
The Oakland University Board of Trustees approved the recommendation to award two of its three capital projects under consideration to IDS – a $44 million project budgeted expansion and renovation to the Oakland Center and $9 million project budgeted athletics facility renovations.

Rich Bracci, Kirk Delzer, and Phyllis Flanigan Retire
Rich, Kirk, and Phyllis retire after 31, 30 and 29 years of service, respectively. All three have spent the past two years mentoring their replacements in their respective markets: Rich in K12 and commercial, Kirk also in K12 and university, and Phyllis in all markets. All of them expect to immerse fully into rest, relaxation and enjoying family, friends and traveling the world.

Munger Graduate Residences opens at University of Michigan
The new Munger Graduate Residences at the University of Michigan is set to open Aug. 1.
The $155 million, approximately 380,000-square-foot building will house 630 graduate students in a unique high-density residential-academic arrangement. Students from 36 different countries and more than 70 graduate programs will be represented in the new facility. It is located between Division and Thompson streets at Madison Street.

EMU regents approve renovation of Wise Hall
The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approved an $8.9 million capital budget for 2015-2016 that includes significant investment for supporting health-related programs, the Honors College and student housing renovations. The Wise upgrade maintains Eastern’s focus on improving the quality of student housing.

Google plans major corporate campus in Ann Arbor
Internet giant Google is planning a major expansion of its Ann Arbor operation with plans to construct a new facility near the University of Michigan's North Campus. Google will lease a current office on Traverwood Drive and construct an adjacent new facility, all totaling about 140,000 square feet.

Dick DeBeliso Retires
Celebrating a career spanning 35 years, Dick quickly moved up the ranks to become Director of Mechanical Engineering in 1988 and was named Exec. Vice President and Director of Operations in 1990 until his retirement. Dick developed a strong list of clients across many markets: K12, higher education, healthcare and religious. Now he looks forward to spending more time with his growing family across the country and spending winters in the islands.

UM Nanomechanical Engineering Labs Dedicated
August 25, 2014: UM dedicated its new $46 million Center of Excellence in Nano Mechanical Science and Engineering. With a “breaker space,” ultra-low vibration chambers and tissue culture rooms, this world-class addition to the G.G. Brown Laboratories on North Campus will allow researchers study the forces at work at the smallest scales to advance nanotechnologies in energy, manufacturing, healthcare and biotechnology.

Schoolcraft Dedicates Jeffress Center
October 22, 2014: Schoolcraft College dedicated the new Jeffress Center. The center, located on the campus' north end, is named after the school's current President - Dr. Conway A. Jeffress, and will contain numerous classrooms, a student lounge, campus safety office and share resources with Toledo University and Wayne State University.

Chrysler Enhances Detroit Presence: Great Lakes Business Center
September 2012: In conjunction with their 2012 “Imported from Detroit” advertising campaign, Chrysler wanted to enhance its corporate presence in the City with a commitment to help revitalize the downtown area. IDS was commissioned to help transform the top two floors of the historic 1912 Dime Building, now known as Chrysler House.

Detroit Medical Center Pediatric Specialty Center
October 1, 2010: Children’s Hospital of Detroit’s only new building in 30 years, IDS partnered with Shepley Bulfinch to design this free-standing 106,550 s.f. facility in the heart of the City. Opened to much fanfare in June 2012, it has surpassed every parent’s dream of providing the best care for their children.

September 2, 2010: The third successful association between IDS and Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas, we were excited to begin planning this renovation and upgrade to their Residential Community, as the building had an unspoken quirkiness about it and was loved by its students and staff. First High School Learn Lab

MSU Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum
March 9, 2009: MSU organized a competition for the Museum, selecting international partner Zaha Hadid Architects in 2008. Soon after, IDS was commissioned as the local architect. The museum was completed in November 2012.

First New High School
September 2007: South Lyon East High School, was IDS’ first new high school. After working on multiple bonds for the district in 1997, 2000 and 2003, IDS was commissioned to design the district's second high school. The school opened doors to students in September 2007, and was designed with a career-focused, collaborative learning style approach.

Dan Christensen Retires
One of the original GHB Partners, Dan was Vice President and Director of Construction Administration Services. He served significant IDS clients for over 22 years in both the university and commercial markets. He decided to hang his retirement shingle Up North where he grew up and left his heart. He plans to stay engaged in both of his ‘home’ communities -- northern Michigan and down state, and is always on the hunt for big game adventures.

Ed Bisson Retires
Ed was one of the original GHB Partners and Director of Energy Management and Controls. He forged new paths for the firm long before ‘green’ and ‘sustainability’ were common; mentoring his colleagues in designing the highest level performing buildings of the day. He now spends half of his time in Michigan and half in Arizona enjoying time with his children and grandchildren.

November 16, 1999 – IDS was formed by seven Principals: Paul Stachowiak, Dick DeBeliso, Rich Bracci, Dan Christensen, Kirk Delzer, Dave DiCiuccio and Ed Bisson. They were managing partners at Giffels Hoyem Basso for the 10 years prior to this time and moved the firm of 85 employees to the City Center building in Troy.
