Utica High School additions and renovations address two primary needs of the school creating a media center that is right sized for the student population, and providing a safe, secure and identifiable entry where the majority of students enter.
The media center addition increases space for reading and research, aligning the volume to district standards. Aesthetically, the addition introduces strong architectural elements created in modern materials to form a new design identity that UHS is currently lacking.
Due to site constraints, most of UHS’s parking is located behind the building. The majority of UHS students, faculty and visitors enter from the backside of the building where administration and security presence is minimal. Relocation of the office and entry creates a new element that increases security and enhances visibility to visitors.
