The David Stott Building is an Art Deco style, thirty-seven story high rise located in downtown Detroit, MI. The Stott formally opened in 1929. Current renovations included 109 residential apartments, a community center, a fitness center, exterior façade lighting, commercial spaces, and retail spaces. David Stott had unique challenges due to the small footprint of the building. In order to overcome the lack of space for infrastructure improvements, existing elevator shafts were repurposed to provide a stacked electrical room arrangement and vertical HVAC and plumbing distribution. The David Stott Building stands as a testament to the resiliency and resurgence of Detroit. IDS served as the Engineer of Record.
